Easter Weekend

This weekend we enjoyed beautiful Florida weather, hunted eggs, ate WAY too much candy, baked cupcakes, visited with family & friends, ate beautiful homemade food, took naps, watched movies, and spent time with our new chicks. Pretty great weekend, if you ask me.

I recently cleaned out the garage, what a chore, let me tell you. The payoff, however, was huge! As an extra bonus, I found these beautiful porcelain figurines that my maternal grandmother gave me each year on my birthday. They are so pretty and I am happy to have pulled them from a dusty old box in the garage so I can display them. High-res

A Merry Little Christmas

My girls had an awesome Christmas morning. They are very happy with all of their new treasures.

The rest of my immediate family came over this morning for a super yummy breakfast, an annual tradition, that’s my niece with her gifts from us. I can’t wait to see her paint-by-number when it’s finished.

I baked two dozen red velvet cupcakes for Christmas dinner at my grandparents, and they are yummy! Amelia and I had to test them.

I hope you all are enjoying time with your family & friends today! Merry Christmas!

My mom and I took my girls to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween last night at the Magic Kingdom. What a a great time we had! No waits for any of the rides, amazing fireworks, trick or treating in costume, and a wonderful parade featuring all of the Disney movie villains. I highly recommend this annual event for you and your little ones.

Our Florida Room Makeover

I blogged a few weeks ago about our family room redo. I am excited to say that the room is finished, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s amazing what a coat of paint & new window treatments can do for a room! We still need new throw pillows, I borrowed the orange ones from our front living room, and I think yellow pillows will be the best bet.

I didn’t take any before pictures, but you can see the red paint & old vertical blinds we had in this recent photo of Mags.

Our Family Room Gets a Makeover

We have recently begun to makeover our Florida room. It’s where we spend the most time watching t.v., reading, and snuggling the kids. It’s the only room we haven’t painted and updated since we moved into our home over two years ago. We will keep our existing sectional, which I love, it’s a neutral color with a dark wood trim. I am looking to add a pop of yellow, and I like these pretty pillows.

We picked out a pretty shade of blue from the Martha Stewart line of paints at Home Depot. Our blue is similar to this shade. The name of the color we chose is Sunken Pool.

We will be taking down some dated vertical blinds, and hanging these tan basket weave panel curtains from Target’s Home Collection. This was the most expensive part of our redo, as our Florida room is almost all windows!

We took a vintage dresser we had in our living room, and moved into the family room to use as our t.v. stand. Our flat screen looks great on it! Best part, it only cost me $15 at our local Salvation Army.

I will photograph the room, and post photos as soon as we are done with everything. I am excited to have a new look in the space where we spend most of our time.

Thanks Goodness for Mom

My life has not been very easy this last two weeks. First, Amelia had the stomach flu, and more recently, Maggie is just getting over the Roseola virus. It’s been rough. Little sleep, super grumpy kids, and my house has suffered. My mom watches the kids for me on days when I work, and she has been doing my laundry, washing our dishes, and there was even a roast on the stove when I got home from work one night! I am so thankful to have a mother who is thoughtful, and always there to support me and my little family.

Today the girls and I took her out for lunch to thank her for everything she does. We tried a new restaurant here in town, and it was yummy. Even Maggie ate a burger!

I hope to be able to support my girls when they are older with families of their own. It is such a luxury to be close to your family these days. Fingers crossed my girls will love this city as much as I do, and we’ll all live close to each other.
