Our annual family museum passes are expiring at the end of this month, so we snuck in one last trip to the Glazer Children’s Museum today. It was the perfect balance of air conditioned fun inside, and fun in the sun & water outside the museum. We drank fancy sodas in glass bottles, and enjoyed being amongst the tall buildings and big city bustle. We have less than three weeks left before school starts, and we have a few more family adventures planned.
I don’t know about you, but for me, summer school break is flying by! We are at about the half way mark, and a few weeks ago, I decided we needed a little weekend getaway before school started. I knew I wanted a fabulous resort with a fun pool, and the Hyatt Regency in Orlando did not disappoint! The Hyatt (formerly the Peabody) is located on International Drive, really close to SeaWorld, and in between the Disney and Universal parks. The property is well maintained, the beds were comfortable, the towels were soft and fluffy, and the girls were very excited about the t.v. in the bathroom! The resort is located right next door to Pointe Orlando, a large shopping/movie/restaurant complex, so we were able to walk there and have dinner at Johnny Rockets. The resort has many restaurants on-site , so if you don’t want to leave the property, you wouldn’t have to. Most of the pictures I have posted are of the girls at the pool, because that is where we spent most of our time. The pool area is PERFECT for children, with it’s zero entry, basketball hoop, and shallow water. There is also a grotto pool with waterfalls (the kids loved jumping through them), and a small wading pool/beach for the really little ones. I enjoyed a couple of yummy frozen cocktails, and felt very relaxed poolside with my happy children. Sometimes it’s just nice to just get away for a weekend, and I know we will definitely be back to stay at the Hyatt Regency Resort.
*this is not a sponsored post, and all opinions are my own. I booked our room through Priceline, and I think we got a great deal on a beautiful resort!
We kicked the official start of summer of right with a family bbq, and a trip to the beach. We have spent endless hours in our pool and at the beach, which is the only way to beat the heat here in sunny Florida. Now that Amelia and Maggie are a bit older, (4 & 7), and they are both strong swimmers, I find these activities to be much more enjoyable.
I hope there is a sandy beach, or a crystal clear pool in your near future. Happy summer!
We live in our back yard this time of year. We are lucky enough to have a quarter acre of land here in the city, and we use every inch of it. My father built our amazing deck and bar, and we love cooking out and having friends and family over for some outdoor fun. We have recently upgraded our outdoor cushions, and had our deck pressure washed. Next, well seal the wood, and paint our picnic table, too. There are still some projects to finish in our yard, but it is feeling more and more complete these days.
We have been living in our backyard these last few weeks. We’ve had friends & family over for bbqs and homemade sangria. We’ve been swimming in the pool, the kids have been catching lizards, and we are really enjoying this slower pace of life. I hope your summer is off to a great start, too!
Yesterday was the girls first official day of summer break. We decided to kick it off right with a trip Honeymoon Island for some fun in the sun. We found some beautiful shells like the ones above, but we also decided to search for some less than perfect shells, with holes in them, so we could do a fun craft when we returned home.
You can use any string or yarn you might have around the house, we used twine, and let your kids put their favorite shells on by themselves. The result is a fun and funky shell necklace that your kiddos will love.
This weekend has been so much fun. On Saturday, we spent the afternoon in the children’s section of our local library, crafting and book hunting, followed by a trip to our favorite gelato spot. Sunday, we hosted some friends and family for a bbq and pool party, and today, we met some people at the beach to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It was HOT in Florida this weekend, and I was happy to enjoy all the great summer activities we have waited for these last few months. I love the last photo above of the girls sleeping in the car on the way home from the beach today. It just shows you how much fun we had this weekend! We are pooped.
I hope your long weekend was a blast, too!
Thank you to all the veterans and their families for your service. We appreciate you. A special thank you to our favorite vets, my dad, and my brother-in-law.
I checked the pool temp today, and it was finally warm enough to swim! After I picked Maggie up from school this morning, we took a dip in the water, and it was the perfect activity on this hot spring day. Our temps will soar to 90 degrees this afternoon! Hooray for backyard pools!
My parents came to Clearwater Beach to meet us for dinner to celebrate my 37th birthday last weekend. We were enjoying a long weekend stay cation at the Frenchy’s Oasis Motel, a super cute retro motel with views of the intracoastal waterway. We all stuffed ourselves with seafood, enjoyed some yummy rum runners, and sang along and danced to the awesome cover band that was playing at the restaurant that night. The sunset was amazing, and we all agreed we needed to make the short drive to the beach to view it more often. The next morning we had perfect beach weather, and the girls stayed busy building sand castles and jumping the waves.
