Happy Valentine’s Day

I hope everyone is having a lovely day. My girls both have Valentine’s Day parties at their schools, and were very excited to take their cards in to class today. I baked a chocolate cake for the occasion, and look forward to a quiet night at home with my husband and kids. I think pizza and DVD rentals are in order.

This is the valentine Amelia chose to give to her school pals. You can find them over at Tiny Prints.

Valentine’s Day card I got for my husband. You can find it here.

(Don’t worry, he rarely reads my blog, so it won’t ruin the surprise)

I am looking forward to Valentine’s Day next week. Amelia has a party at school that I am helping with, and the hubs and I have a date planned, lunch and visit to a museum exhibit we both really want to see.

Today, I surprised the girls with a special Valentine’s Day themed lunch. I found the cutest heart shaped shortbread cookies with strawberry jam at the store this week, and had the idea to put together a special lunch a little early, since Amelia will have her school party next week.

The girls ate heart shaped peanut butter sandwiches, pretzels (which look like hearts to me), strawberries cut in to hearts, and raspberry lemonade. It made them both happy, and they were excited to drink out of my vintage tea cups, too.

I had purchased them each a book as a Valentine’s Day gift, and decided to let them open up their presents today. I bought Romeo & Juliet: A BabyLit Counting Primer (BabyLit Books) for Maggie, and Everybody Bonjours! for Amelia.

What special plans do you have for your kiddos this Valentine’s Day?

How to Make a Map Heart Garland

You’ll need a map, scissors, and a stapler.

Cut the map into 1 inch wide strips.

Then you need to cut the longer pieces down to equal size strips, approximately 6 inches.

Next you fold each strip in half, then make a heart with one of the strips, and insert the bottom of another strip into the top of the heart and staple.

Keep this going and a chain starts to form.

This was a super easy and fun craft that Amelia helped me with. She folded all the strips in half for me.

You could use any type of paper to make this garland, but I love the look of a the map.

Love is Sweet

one- Amelia this morning before school.

two- Heart-shaped toast with eggs for breakfast.

three- A card for the mister.

four- Pretty red tulips.

five- Heart felt pin I bought on Etsy.

six- Amelia’s Valentine’s Day cards.

seven- A cake Amelia and I just made for dessert tonight.

Amelia wears a clip in her hair every day to keep it out of her face. I recently ordered these two adorable clips from Tumpus Creations. The heart will come personalized with Amelia’s initial, and will go perfectly with her Valentine’s Day outfit.
