A Very Special Day

Today is my maternal grandmother’s 90th birthday. I have been busy making her the prettiest birthday cake with berry & almond flowers, and Amelia is working on a watercolor birthday card. Tonight we will gather with the rest of my family, and celebrate my beautiful grandma’s very special day. I even have some out of town family here to celebrate, too.

*If Amelia is helping me bake, like she did today, we use a hand mixer instead of an electric. It is a lot less messy, and much easier for her to use.

Maggie {23 Months}

Today, Maggie is 23 months old. She has been battling a cold all week, so I only snapped a few photos of her this morning when I went out to check on the chickens. Maggie is such a big girl now. I seriously don’t know how this little on is almost a two year old. Part of me is excited to be past the baby months, but another part of me is sad. I suspect most mamas feel this way.

* My Rebel is now off of manual! I attended a photography workshop last night, and I’m excited to play around with my camera. Next up is to start editing my photos, something I’ve never done. What editing programs do you use? I would love any tips or advice on how to get started.

Maggie, 20 Months Old

Maggie is a girl on the move. Taking her picture is nearly impossible, she is always in motion. I skipped a 19 month update all together because I tried to get a picture of her, and they were all blurry. 

Maggie’s vocabulary is still growing every day, and she is now speaking in short sentences. She has reached the terrible two’s or tantrum toddler stage, and this part, I could do without. She is very vocal with her frustrations, and let’s me know when she is unhappy.  Oh, boy.

Maggie’s hair has FINALLY started to grow, but I still needed to use a baby velcro bow to put in her hair today. She is teething, again, and has her hands in her mouth, alot.

I can’t believe she’ll be two in just 4 months. 

Maggie {18 Months + 1 Week}

And just like that, my baby is one and a half years old! This little girls loves to play with her baby dolls, and spends hours pushing them around in their toy stroller. Maggie loves to climb & dance, but her very favorite thing to do is play outside in our backyard exploring and getting real dirty. Some of her new vocabulary words include pretty, juice, and baby. She can point to her nose, mouth, eyes, and ears, and loves to show you where your facial features are, too. Maggie weighed 24.5 pounds and measured 33 inches tall at her recent doctor appointment.

Maggie {16 Months + 2 weeks}

Well, better late than never, here is Mag’s 16 month post.

Maggie is getting to be such a big girl. She loves music! Playing her piano, dancing or clapping along to music are amongst her favorite activities. She loves books, climbing, swimming, and Sesame Street. Her vocabulary is growing every day, and she gives kisses to everyone, including our pets. It is bitter sweet to see my baby turn in to such an active little girl. I am so thankful to have a happy & healthy little lady, I just wish I could slow down time a bit.

Maggie {15 Months Old}

The Magster is 15 months old tomorrow. Wow! She is such a big girl now. Maggie is learning to eat with utensils, likes to brush her own hair & teeth (she has 9 now) and has learned several new words. Some of her most used new words are up, ball, here, and STOP. She will also shake her head no to me when she is finished eating and can’t eat one more bite. So. much. fun.

Maggie {14 Months Old}

Oh, sweet Maggie! Today she is 14 months old. She is full of mischief and sweetness. Things are much busier in our house now that she is a toddler, but we wouldn’t have any other way. Maggie’s new skills include climbing, onto the coffee table, the couch, and the rocking chair in her room. She has also started sorting, and enjoys pulling toys out of a container, and putting them back in. It is fun to watch her explore her surroundings, and play with her big sister.

Maggie, 9 Months Old

My sweet Maggie. She is crawling now, all over the place. She is very curious about everything, and needs to inspect things very closely. She is pulling herself up on furniture, and I bet she’s walking by 10 months. Maggie loves to feed herself puffs, small bites of bananas, and cookies. She has a great appetite, and eats everything I offer her. She is still sleeping like a champ, 11-12 hours a night, with a one hour nap in the morning and in the afternoon. Her personality has really come out these last few weeks, and she charms the pants off anyone she meets. The funniest thing she does now is fuss at her sister. They are already squabbling over toys, which is amusing to us. I’m sure it won’t be that funny soon enough when I have to play referee. 

Maggie finally mastered a forward crawl yesterday. She’s been scooting, rolling, & spinning for weeks now, and I knew she’d figure it out sooner or later. She is such a busy body today. Moving all over the house, and trying to pull herself up wherever she can. Now the real fun begins.
