Ice Eggs on a Hot Day

Want to make some ice eggs of your own? You’ll need a bag of balloons & some small toys. I bought mine at the Dollar Store. I picked dinosaurs because the frozen “eggs” looked prehistoric to me. You open the balloon and put the small toy inside. Then you fill the bag with water, tie it off, and stick it in the freezer overnight. When you’re ready to give them to your kiddos, just cut them out of the ballon, and the fun begins!

This is the perfect activity on a hot summer day. The dinosaurs inside were a surprise, so as the eggs melted, they were excited to see them. They licked the eggs, tried to crack them open, and finally moved to a sunny spot in our yard to watch them melt.

Preschool Style

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Preschool Style post, but when Amelia’s new dress arrived in today’s mail, we were both eager to take some photos. Amelia’s dress came from Mani-Mina, it’s the second dress we’ve purchased from this shop, and we just love them! Amelia’s favorite part of the dress is the orange pocket. I think it will be worn a lot this summer.

We’ve been enjoying a bit of a slower pace lately. With Amelia out of school, our mornings aren’t so rushed, and I don’t have to argue with Amelia to hurry up and finish your breakfast or WE’RE GOING TO BE LATE!
I’ve had time to make blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and we’ve been able to stay in our pajamas a little longer. The dishes & laundry are still piling up, but I am better at ignoring them this time of year. After all, they aren’t going anywhere. Right? High-res

Mama Loves Thrifting

Last time we made a trip to Home Depot, I bought a bag of wildflower seeds for Amelia to plant in her own section of the garden. She patiently waited several weeks, and what we originally thought were just weeds, bloomed into the prettiest flowers.

On a recent mini thrift ( I had just 10 minutes to look around), I found this pretty little birdie vase for just three dollars. Turns out, it’s the perfect size for the bouquets of wildflower Amelia picks for me.

School Picnic

Today was the annual end of the school year picnic. It was a day for bringing flowers to teachers, hanging out with friends, swinging, turtle feeding, tree climbing, and saying goodbye to a sweet teacher. Summer officially begins for my Amelia.

Today is Amelia’s last day of school. She took her teacher a french lavender plant to help her have a relaxing summer.
Our summer activities officially kick off this weekend with Disney Princess On Ice, Amelia is over the moon excited. We also have more beach trips planned, library visits, a trip to Busch Gardens, Sea World, and Universal Studios ( you gotta love living in Florida!) and many more fun activities including making lots of homemade popsicles and swimming in our pool. Summer, here we come!

Maggie’s 2nd Birthday Party

We celebrated Maggie’s birthday this weekend with a brunch for our close family. We had quiche, my mom’s famous hash brown casserole, croissants, fruit tart, and oj (spiked with champagne for the adults). We used vintage melamine plates that I found on a recent thrift, and cut sunflowers from the garden to use as table decoration. It was a very laid back party, where we ate outside with the chickens, who also got a special treat. Our white chicken decided that she would like more than salad, and hopped up on the table after we were done eating to sample some of Maggie’s leftovers. These hens are spoiled! Maggie had fun eating the cupcakes I baked and tearing through her birthday packages. All in all it was a great day for our very special girl.
