An Autumn Birthday Party

We had a small and simple gathering tonight at our house to celebrate Amelia’s 5th birthday. It was a sweet autumn themed party with all of Amelia’s favorite things including candy corn, apples, and chocolate cake. I got lots of inspiration from Pinterest, and was able to use my favorite vintage dishes to serve up all the yummy food I made. I spent very little money, and just got creative which made the get together more fun, I think.

Amelia got her first bicycle from my sister tonight, and she is over the moon excited about it. As I was putting her to bed tonight she said it was her best birthday ever. That is all this mama could hope for.

Preschool Style {Amelia’s Party Dress}

Amelia tried on her birthday dress for the first time today. She looked so adorable in it, that I thought I’d give you a little sneak peek. I put a bun on the top of her head with her tiny tiara and presto!, she turned in to a little princess. Her party is next weekend, and I will be sharing more of the details with you then. Amelia’s party dress came from this Etsy shop.

I’ve just ordered this dress for Amelia to wear to her 4th birthday party. She wants a princess theme again this year, and I think this dress paired with her tiny tiara will be PERFECT. The Etsy shop I ordered the dress from is amazing, you should check it out here. High-res

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto

This is Ian. He loves robots. Who doesn’t, really. His lovely wife Jenna, who happens to be one of my dearest friends, surprised him with a robot themed birthday party. She made most of the decorations herself, and I had to share them with you.

That’s a pinata!

They cooked out hot dogs and hamburgers, and had fun games to play, like cornhole.

Our curly hair let’s you know how hot and humid it was!

I didn’t get to stay for very long, I had to get home to my sick Maggie, but it is always nice to get out and socialize with people who are older than five.

I’m looking forward to hosting our own BBQ next weekend to celebrate Father’s Day. Thank goodness we have a pool!

Maggie’s 1st Birthday Party {The Details}

A pretty ceramic owl I found at a thrift shop to use for the centerpiece.

The menu included fresh fruit, quiche, pasta salad, and croissants.

Maggie’s first birthday party was this afternoon, and it was a wonderful event. The weather was fantastic, our friends & family were great company, and best of all, Maggie had a fun day. I have broken the photos into 3 posts; the details, the birthday girl, and the fun!

Happy Birthday, to Me!

Today I am thirty-four. This past Saturday, my sister and I headed out for a celebratory night on the town with friends. We had a lovely meal at one of my favorite restaurants, followed by birthday shots, and lots of dancing! It was a very fun evening, a reminder that I am still young & fabulous, and can still hang til 2 a.m. I will say that yesterday was mainly spent on the couch, though:)

Tonight we are headed to my parents for a catered mexican dinner, my favorite, and I’m looking forward to a great day! I will say that the current celebrations happening over the breaking news of Osama’s death has made the day feel more festive. A birthday to remember, for sure.

My shirt is from Target

Jeans? (I’ve had them FOREVER)

Shoes are a birthday gift from mom, as well as the glass earrings.

I’ve started getting party supplies for Maggie’s upcoming forest friends themed 1st birthday party. I’ve just ordered this adorable owl pinata for the older kids, and since it’s a pull pinata, Maggie can have a turn, too.
Available here. High-res
