Mama Loves Thrifting (and Grandma does, too!)

My love of going to yard sales and hunting for treasures at thrift stores started at a young age, thanks to my mom. She enjoys these activities as much as much as I do. My mom will surprise me from time to time with special things that she has picked up for me while out thrifting. Here are a few of the recent things she has found for me.

one: Four, count em FOUR lovely vintage pitchers. Two of them are from Hall and the other two are from Cambridge. I plan to use them for tea and lemonade at Maggie’s upcoming birthday party. It’s a garden theme.

two: 8 AWESOME vintage glasses that I am so in love with!

three: a Blue Heaven platter to match the two plates I recently found while I was thrifting.

Great stuff, right? I am one lucky girl.

Here’s a look at some of my recent finds.

A pretty mid century floral platter, two Blue Heaven plates, eight melamine plates and a sugar & cream set, an adorable ceramic squirrel dish, a pretty yellow floral plate, and a orange floral juice glass.

A globe for the girls to enjoy.

Pretty yellow pillow cases.

And a TON of vinyl. Here are a few of my favorites.

I also found a vintage leather jacket and some shirts for the mister, and a few clothing pieces for me, too.

One afternoon this week, I had some time between clients, so I took the opportunity to run over to a thrift shop near my work that I had never been to. I’ve tried to shop there before, but I could never time it to when they were actually open. This time, I finally had success. I only had a few minutes to browse, but I found a few neat things.

one: A plastic vintage Cinderella. Maybe a cake topper? Amelia loves it, and it was only $1.

two: (2) juice glasses. The perfect size for my girls to drink out of, 50 cents each.

three: An egg shaped milk glass container. I love the embossed flowers on it, $5.

Here’s a look at some of the treasures I found while out thrifting with Maggie this morning. I have loved reading Freckle Wonder’s guide to thrifting posts, and it inspired me to leave the house on this rainy day for a little hunt.
Pictured above from left to right: Christmas in France record, a vintage aqua bowl, a winking vintage Santa, an owl candle, a floral smock top for Maggie, and a favorite childhood movie for the girls, The Secret of NIHM. I also found a Hello Kitty stationary set for Amelia (not pictured), and all of it for under $10. High-res

Swoon

I’ve been thinking about this piece of furniture ever since I first saw it earlier this week while out thrifting. My mom surprised me today by showing up with it strapped to her car, and told me it was an early wedding present. I absolutely adore it, and can’t wait to fill it’s shelves with some of my favorite things. It even has a bar, you can see it open in the second photo, that I plan to fill with some of my vintage barware.
